In the NFL, quarterbacks are the nucleus of any team's success. A skilled quarterback can read defenses, make split-second decisions, and deliver accurate passes to his receivers. In the 2023 season, several quarterbacks have established themselves as the cream of the crop, showcasing unparalleled talent and leadership on the gridiron. Let's break down the top three fantasy quarterbacks from 2023 and determine if they will be sitting at the table again next year.

Josh Allen, QB1

24.2 FPTS/G, 410.6 total pts

29 Passing TDs, 15 Rushing TDs, 4306 Passing Yards

Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills has rapidly become an elite fantasy quarterback. Allen's combination of size, arm strength, and athleticism is a rare and potent blend. In recent seasons, Allen has transformed the Bills into serious contenders in the AFC. Allen's improvement in accuracy and decision-making has been particularly impressive, making him a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Josh Allen finished the year with an absurd 15 rushing touchdowns during the regular season.

Allen's ability to make big plays in critical situations has endeared him to the Bills Mafia and solidified his standing as one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the league. Allen’s Achilles heel is that he threw 18 interceptions this year, second behind only Sam Howell. Allen's play style will result in interceptions, but you will learn to live with it when he adds an extra 15 TDs for you on the ground. If Allen dials the picks back even slightly, he should easily be a top-three quarterback in 2024.

Jalen Hurts, QB2

21.9 FPTS/G 371.8 total pts

23 Passing TDs, 15 Rushing TDs, 3858 Passing Yards

Jalen Hurts entered the NFL as a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Initially, Hurts served as a backup to Carson Wentz but took over the starting role during the 2020 season. Hurts's ascension gave Eagles fans and football enthusiasts a glimpse of his dynamic skill set. Hurts is renowned for his athleticism, agility, and ability to make plays with both his arm and his legs.

As a quarterback, Hurts possesses the mobility to extend plays and gain yards on the ground, adding a dimension to the Eagles offensive strategy. Hurts’s 15 TDs weren’t exactly as electrifying as some of Josh Allens's, but the Brotherly Shove took the league by storm and continues to spark conversation about whether it should be allowed. Teams around the league attempted and succeeded(rarely) in imitating the brotherly shove.

I expect Hurts to be a top-five quarterback next year, but the Eagles are losing some key pieces on that offensive line that might set Hurts up for regression. Due to this situation change, Hurts may not repeat as a top-three quarterback next year.

Dak Prescott, QB3

20.7 FPTS/G ,351.8 Total Points

38 Total TDs, 4516 Passing Yards

The former Offensive Rookie of the Year had himself in MVP talks for most of the year before a disappointing end to the season. However, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb showed us they have an unmistakable connection that is a fantasy goldmine. The Cowboys have young weapons around Prescott, and we saw him take full advantage in 2023. Prescott finished 3rd in Deep Ball Completion % in 2023, making it clear he's a talented quarterback.

The explosiveness of this Cowboys offense is exactly what you look for in a fantasy quarterback. Although Prescott may not have the same rushing upside as the QBs above him, what he lacks in the running game he makes up for with those explosive pass plays. That said, I'm not confident that Prescott can hold off these other talented quarterbacks in 2024.

If Hurts and Prescott Don't Repeat in the Top Three for 2024, Who Will Fill the Empty Seats?

Lamar Jackson (QB4 in 2023)

Lamar Jackson is on the verge of another MVP, and he seems to have figured the NFL out. Jackson finished with a career-high in passing yards (3,678), continuing to improve his video game-esque skillset. This boom in production came from Jackson also having a career year in passes completed 20+ yards down the field. I believe the top 3 is Jackson's floor in 2024, and he may come fo Allen's, QB1 crown.

C.J Stroud (QB11 in 2023)

ROY? Are we sure CJ Stroud is a rookie because wow. All offseason pre-draft talk was Stroud or Young, who is better, who has a better team and who has the dog in them. Stroud is seriously built different. The rookie showed us great leadership qualities and proved he could deliver clutch performances already. With a healthy Tank Dell, Nico Collins, and Dalton Schultz, Stroud could become a top-three fantasy quarterback in 2024.

This is easily one of my favorite CJ Stroud play’s of the season.

Even tho this doesn’t count since Woods stepped out the playmaking and avoiding the rush while dropping a dime to the corner of the endzone ?‍?

It’s legit scary to think how good he is gonna be with a healthy OL… pic.twitter.com/J63aS8CEQD
