With week two of the pre-season underway, we finally have some more rookie action upon us. While it’s not the same as regular season football, for dynasty fans it’s a time to watch these young guys prove themselves. That said, while everyone else is too busy with their redraft rankings, I decided to go in and update my top 100 dynasty rankings based on everything that has happened up to 8/16.

These rankings are created for a Superflex, PPR, 1.5 TEP format. To create my rankings, I use advanced premium stats from Fantasy Data, PFF, TeamRankings, sports books, film from All-22, and many other sources. With that being said I understand that rankings are subjective so I’m more than happy to debate any of these rankings. Let’s dive right into it!

Note: These Rounds DO NOT mean anything. They are just visual placeholders.

Best Value

Michael Penix Jr

FTR Rank 90 Vs FantasyPros ECR Rank 128

While comparing Michael Penix Jr to Jordan Love is certainly a hot take, it’s one I’m willing to stand by. Coming out of college, I was a huge fan of Penix due to his plus arm strength, anticipation and deep ball accuracy. That said he wasn’t as highly touted due to his age, injury concerns and struggles with pass rush. Full Dynasty film breakdown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4tZiiIPnBM

Let me remind you, however, that Penix went 8th overall in the NFL draft, which was 18 spots higher than Love went. While Love was always going to be given a chance, but the Falcons have a ton of capital invested into Penix, and they’re going to try to get him on the field as soon as possible. Being selected in the top 10 also gives him a much longer leash to fail.

Keep in mind the Falcons also have Drake London, Kyle Pitts, and Bijan Robinson, who should be around the team for quite some time. While a lot can change in a few years, Penix will have an elite core of offensive weapons waiting for him. Even though you’re not getting any production until Kirk Cousins is gone, the long-term payout will be more than worth it.
