Must Start: Wide Receiver

Jaylen Waddle @ SEA

ESPN Projection - WR38

The FTR start of the week must be a player that I’m super high on yet but who isn’t ranked in the top 24 according to ESPN’s projections. Yes, I understand Tua Tagovailoa is injured, but WR38 is a crazy low ranking for Jaylen Waddle. Even though the splits haven’t been in Waddle’s favor, he’s still an elite talent that can dominate any given week.

While the situation seems awful for Waddle, his matchup is actually amazing. We’re going to take a look at Fantasy Point’s WR Coverage Matchup, which breaks down the opponent’s scheme and how well these wide receivers typically perform. For week three, Waddle is 4th in expected fantasy points per route run (0.61) and has a +9.3% coverage grade. If Skylar Thompson can be half-decent, Waddle should explode.

Must Start: Running Back

J.K. Dobbins @ PIT

ESPN Projection - RB26

Now that we’ve already gone over the ground rules, let’s dive right into the action. As long as J.K. Dobbins is healthy, he’s going to be a top 24 back in the FTR rankings. Dobbins is currently projected as the RB26 on ESPN but I have him much higher in what should be another good game.

Even though the Steelers defense has been very solid, they’ve actually given up the 7th most PPG to running backs this year (34.2). Typically, I don’t love targeting players in low-scoring games, but with an over/under of 35.5 points (per Vegas Insider), it tells me this will be a ground-and-pound game. Although they’ve been trying to conserve him so far, this may be a game where Dobbins has to see an increased number of touches. If he gets that role, he should crush in fantasy football.
