With three NBA weeks coming and going, here are some players who are worth adding in your respective fantasy leagues. These players have made the most of their opportunities and have made a case for more playing time moving forward. A lot of these players are also benefiting from the high number of injuries that have been occurring in the league thus far. Please note that all of these players are owned in less than 50% of ESPN leagues.
Christian Braun
(Denver Nuggets G)
Christian Braun continues to be one of the most reliable fantasy options to begin the season. Braun is putting up 16.3 PPG and 5.2 RPG on 55/50/81 shooting splits to start the 2024-25 campaign. Christian has proven to be a reliable fantasy option and will have even more upside with Aaron Gordon sidelined for the next few weeks.
Trey Murphy III
(New Orleans Pelicans F)
Trey Murphy has missed the start to this season, but had a prominent role off the bench last season as he averaged 14.8 PPG, 4.9 RPG, and 0.9 SPG on 44% shooting from the field and 38% from 3PT range. With the Pelicans dealing with a number of injuries, Murphy will have a prominent role to begin his 2024-25 campaign.
Scotty Pippen Jr.
(Memphis Grizzlies G)
With Ja Morant and Desmond Bane out, Scotty Pippen Jr. has benefitted, as he’s put up 13.7 PPG, 7.2 APG, and 5.3 RPG over his last five games. Scotty has proven to be a reliable replacement for Ja after seeing eleven starts at PG to end last season. Pippen Jr. has triple-double potential on a daily basis until Morant or Bane are back in the lineup.
Bilal Coulibaly
(Washington Wizards G/F)
Bilal Coulibaly has had a breakout sophomore year for the Washington Wizards. The former 7th overall pick from the 2023 draft is averaging 16.3 PPG, 5.3 RPG, and 1.1 SPG on 57/37/80 shooting splits through nine games. Coulibaly is proving to be a bright spot for the struggling Wizards who will look to develop him as much as they can during a rebuilding season.
Bennedict Mathurin
(Indiana Pacers G/F)
Bennedict Mathurin has excelled as of late given Aaron Nesmith and Andrew Nembhard were both missing time. He’s put up 24.2 PPG and 8.2 RPG on 54% shooting from the field and 56% from deep over his last six games. With Nesmith expected to miss another week or two, Mathurin should continue to see more fantasy appeal for the next few games.
Brandon Boston Jr.
(New Orleans Pelicans F)
Brandon Boston Jr. has seen an increased workload due to the absences of many Pelicans players. Brandon is one of the Pels who have stepped up as he’s supplied 16.8 PPG, 5.5 APG, 4.5 RPG, and 1.7 SPG on 46% shooting and 37% from 3PT range in four starts this season. Boston Jr. is a great streaming option as Herbert Jones and Zion Williamson are both expected to miss multiple weeks.
Santi Aldama
(Memphis Grizzlies F)
Santi Aldama has served as a viable starter for Memphis to begin the 2024-25 season. Santi is averaging 12.8 PPG and 7.6 RPG on 47% shooting from the field to begin the year. Aldama has double-double potential due to the current lack of depth for the Grizzlies.
Peyton Watson
(Denver Nuggets F)
With Aaron Gordon out with a calf injury, Peyton Watson has filled the void at the vacated starting forward spot for the Nuggets. He has thrived in his increased role as he’s gone for 14 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 1.6 BPG on 58% shooting in his three starts. Watson will continue to have a larger all around role as long as Gordon is out due to his efficient offense and defensive capabilities.
Ochai Agbaji
(Toronto Raptors F)
Ochai Agbaji has filled in nicely for the sidelined Scottie Barnes, who is dealing with an orbital fracture. Ochai is averaging 15.1 PPG, 4.7 RPG, and 1.3 SPG on 58/47/75 shooting splits in his last ten games. Barnes is expected to miss at least one more week for Toronto, which means Agbaji will keep starting at the wing in his absence.
