Player Spotlights
1.01 - Ashton Jeanty
(RB, Boise State)
Jeanty has been one of the best players in college football this season, firmly placing himself within the heat of the Heisman race. If he can separate himself from two-way player Travis Hunter, he has a good shot at winning the award.
His elite production history gives him the potential to be an RB1 in dynasty right off the bat. He figures to be the immediate starter wherever he lands in the draft, so drafting him with the first-overall selection in a dynasty rookie draft is a no-brainer.
His ceiling is ridiculously high and any team willing to draft him will be ready to shape their offense around the running game. Jeanty is a generational talent at the running back position and will haunt NFL defenses for years to come.
This year’s running back class is far superior to last year’s, taking advantage of being able to draft Jeanty as well as some key depth pieces could lead to a league championship.
1.05 - Cam Ward
(QB, Miami)
Ward has had a fantastic season, propelling himself into college football stardom, as well as placing himself into consideration for teams picking at the top of next year’s draft. Ward will be the franchise quarterback for whatever team selects him, so drafting him in the middle of the first round of a rookie draft is solid value.
Ward has posted a phenomenal touchdown to interception ratio, leads the nation in passing yards, and has consistently shown the ability to create out of structure. He is a true playmaker that a team can trust with the ball in his hands.
Currently, Ward should be the favorite to be the first quarterback off the board next April. Consider adding him to your dynasty team if you need a quarterback.
2.02 Jalen Milroe
(QB, Alabama)
There is no dispute over the fact that rushing quarterbacks present unique value in fantasy football. Milroe is no exception, even if his game isn’t entirely polished yet. Milroe has been given a good amount of rushing volume this year and I expect that to carry over into his NFL career.
He has a rocket arm and can create with his legs, so any NFL team in need of a dual-threat quarterback should look in his direction in next year’s draft. He has a chance to improve his draft stock as he finishes out this season of college football, so his value in rookie drafts could continue to improve.
As for fantasy football, Milroe’s upside leans on his big-play potential, which is through the roof. If you’re willing to take a gamble, Milroe could prove to be an elite investment for your dynasty roster.
2.08 Xavier Restrepo
(WR, Miami)
Ward and Restrepo have made quite the duo in Miami this season, connecting for 10 touchdowns so far. As a player, Restrepo shows great quickness and is dangerous after the catch. This gives him a ton of upside in fantasy football and displays his ability as a big-play threat.
Restrepo has also been a high-volume receiver this season and has proven himself able to take on the WR1 role for a modern offense. He should be drafted in the middle of the second round in most dynasty leagues. Restrepo’s upside gives him a lot of value and locks him into at least the top half of next year’s rookie class.
Drafting Restrepo could end up giving your squad a receiver with high volume and production.
3.07 Cade Klubnik
(QB, Clemson)
Klubnik was highly-recruited out of high school and his recent production has shown us why. He has developed many facets of his game and has become a more complete player over the last few years. In fantasy football, he provides great value as both a passer and a runner. I don’t think he’s hit his ceiling in either category, so I have him ranked fairly high.
As previously mentioned, rushing quarterbacks win fantasy championships. Klubnik has great value as a dual-threat quarterback and has a ceiling as a starter in the NFL. If you’re willing to take a chance on the Clemson quarterback, your gamble could be rewarded with a complete player capable of moving the ball multiple ways as a true playmaker for this Clemson offense.
Klubnik has a ridiculous amount of upside and has been on a statistical tear recently. He’s been able to limit turnovers this season, which should help his draft stock next April. He still has a lot left to prove, but a strong finish to the season could propel his name into the first round for a team in need of a quarterback.
