This is the most stressful part of the fantasy football season by far. The leadup to the playoffs has many teams that are on the fence in their leagues scrambling to make last second trades and transactions to put their team over the top.
Making the right move could secure a spot for your team in the playoffs, making the wrong one could doom your entire season. Taking risks is an important part of fantasy football, but it’s important to make the right trades. Hopefully, this list can point you in the right direction.
Buy Low
Jordan Love (QB, GB)
Week 11 Stats - 13/17 Comp/Att
261 Pass Yards, 1 Pass TD
1 Rush TD, 1 INT
Jordan Love and the Packers returned to action in Week 11 after a well-earned bye week, defeating the divisional rival Chicago Bears on a blocked field goal attempt to end the game. Love had a solid, but efficient, day as a passer. Namely, he connected on four passes to wideout Christian Watson as the pair accounted for 150 yards of offense. Love also showed his athleticism on a touchdown scramble that ended up being the last scoring play of the game.
I’m very optimistic on Jordan Love’s fantasy outlook because he was able to produce an above-average number of fantasy points while only posting 17 pass attempts. He also has a skilled receiving group and a solid running game to lean on. This is a balanced offense that is able to find success in both the running and passing games, and I believe that this will allow Love to play efficient football down the stretch of the season.
TeamRanking's Passing Stats indicate that Green Bay averages only the 24th-most pass attempts per game (29.6), but also the 9th-most passing yards per game (237.7). This efficiency should allow Jordan Love to stay relevant in fantasy football throughout the course of the 2024 NFL season. We’ve seen how high Love’s ceiling is as a player. If he can return to a similar form in late 2024, he is a great player to trade for.
Tony Pollard (RB, TEN)
Week 11 Stats - 9 Carries
15 Rush Yards, 4 Targets
2 Rec, 14 Rec Yards
This was a rough week for the Titans’ rushing attack, which totaled only 33 rushing yards against a strong Vikings defense. Pollard was no exception, as the game plan quickly shifted to a pass-heavy focus after Tennessee trailed later in the game, leaving him with only 9 inefficient carries.
Despite this, Tony Pollard is a great value in fantasy football. This performance represented his floor. He is still Tennessee’s workhorse back. After all, Pollard has received over 15 carries in seven out of Tennessee's ten games so far this season.
According to the FantasyPros RB Target Stats, Pollard is averaging four targets per game this year, which is tied for the seventh-best mark in the NFL. The volume is obviously present. It also helps that Pollard doesn;t have an especially difficult schedule down the stretch of the fantasy season, facing Indianapolis once and Jacksonville twice. Tony Pollard is a quality running back in fantasy football and is worth trading for while his value is low.
Kyren Williams (RB, LAR)
Week 11 Stats - 15 Carries
86 Rush Yards
Williams has had a disappointing stretch of fantasy performances that started back in Week 9. He’s been hard to trust since then. Williams hasn’t even rushed for more than 100 yards since Week 5 against Green Bay.
However, I’m not giving up hope in Kyren Williams. He is still getting a sufficient amount of volume in this Los Angeles offense. His lack of targets this week was somewhat of an outlier. Williams registered 16 targets during Weeks 8-10, so he remains a great option in PPR leagues.
Buying the dip on Williams makes sense at this point. He is still getting a lot of volume and has an incredibly high ceiling. Some managers may be panicking because of this fantasy slump, but I believe that better days are ahead for the feature back in Los Angeles.
Sell High
Jayden Reed (WR, GB)
Week 11 Stats - 2 Targets
2 Rec, 23 Rec Yards
1 Rec TD, 1 Rush
-5 Rush Yards
It’s hard to debate that Jayden Reed has had a great start to the fantasy season, but it’s also hard to debate that his fantasy outlook remains murky at best. Even though he scored a touchdown on Sunday, Jayden Reed to a statistical backseat to wideout Christian Watson, who logged 150 receiving yards against Chicago.
Reed’s volume has been inconsistent, especially when quarterback Jordan Love is on the field. He’s certainly had some strong performances, but he’s also had some disappointing ones as well.
The truth is, there are too many mouths to feed in the Green Bay passing game. Every week brings a new receiver or tight end posting season-high numbers while the others suffer a decrease in volume. Jayden Reed even underperformed his ranking of 19th at the wide receiver position in Fantasy Trading Room's Week 11 Wide Receiver Rankings. Trade him before it’s too late.
D.J. Moore (WR, CHI)
Week 11 Stats - 7 Targets
7 Rec, 62 Rec Yards
1 Carry, 5 Rush Yards
D.J. Moore enjoyed a bounce-back fantasy performance after going four straight games without recording over 50 receiving yards in a single contest, dating back to Week 6. Chicago’s offense also showed improvement with a new offensive coordinator in place. Moore certainly outperformed his ranking of 36th on Fantasy Trading Room's Week 11 Wide Receiver Rankings.
However, I am skeptical of his fantasy outlook. This is mostly due to rookie wideout Rome Odunze leading the team in targets under a new offensive coordinator. Odunze received ten targets to Moore’s seven.
It’s definitely possible for Odunze to take over as the team’s top receiver if offensive struggles continue and Chicago decides to shake things up. It’s also true that Odunze’s talent cannot be denied. He was drafted to be Chicago’s top receiver. Trading away D.J. Moore isn’t a bad move, especially if you can receive a player like Odunze in return.
Kareem Hunt (RB, KC)
Week 11 Stats - 14 Carries
60 Rush Yards
This one is the most obvious on the list, but if you can get any kind of value take it. Kareem Hunt’s reunion with the Chiefs has been a win-win for both sides. Kansas City received stability in their running game while running back Isiah Pacheco worked his way back from a leg injury he suffered back in Week 2. Hunt enjoyed a high amount of volume and some of the best production of his entire career.
Unfortunately, this may be coming to an end sooner rather than later. Pacheco’s return looms large and Hunt has seen a decrease in carries over the last two weeks. Kareem Hunt has been a serviceable replacement for Kansas City, but his time as the lead back may be coming to a swift end. Trading away Kareem Hunt before Isiah Pacheco returns to the field is a smart move. Capitalize on Hunt’s production if you can.
