The Cleveland Cavaliers are reported to be interested in selling Donovan Mitchell to the New York Knicks before the NBA’s trade deadline lapses. According to Marc Stein, a renowned NBA Insider, the Cavaliers aren't showing signs of reviewing trade offers for their talented point guard.

Stein's Report

Stein stated in a Substack post on December 10 that the Cavaliers might not extend Mitchell’s contract soon. Matt Moore from The Action Network shared his opinions regarding the point guard’s fate on Wednesday.

Marc Stein: "Cavs continue to send signals…no interest in…trade offers for Donovan Mitchell. Zero…Heat…could well choose to test that…
"…Knicks 5-0 since acquiring OG…fit…enables NY (if it so chooses) to remain patient in pursuit of star…" MORE: https://t.co/EkuQL5GIaO pic.twitter.com/aLSGhVyQVc

Stein reported that an NBA executive suggested that the Cavaliers could be interested in Dejounte Murray in case they opt to trade Mitchell before his contract’s final year. However, Moore clarified that this was the executive’s speculation.

Moore believes that the Cavaliers are unlikely to field the Atlanta Hawks’ trade offer. Instead, they might propose to exchange Mitchell with Murray. If this happens, it will enable the Knicks to acquire Mitchell through the Hawks once he leaves the Cavaliers.

Mitchell would join Trae Young in the Hawks’ backcourt if this trade happens. Stein stated that it would be reasonable for the Hawks to trade Mitchell to the Miami Heat or the Knicks. The Cavaliers unfriendly approach hasn't deterred the Heat from eyeing the point guard. Even so, the Knicks would have to increase their offer to acquire Mitchell. Mitchell is a two-way player that most teams have interest in, but reports claim his agencies and the CAA have a beef that might prevent his trade.

What's Next for Dejounte Murray?

Shams Charania disclosed in Tuesday’s Run It Back on Fanduel TV that the San Antonio Spurs, Murray’s former team are interested in acquiring him. Moore reported that a unique three-team deal might occur when returning Murray home. AJ Griffin has caught the attention of the Knicks, Houston Rockets, and Chicago Bulls. Griffin fell out with Quin Synder, the Hawks’ head coach this season.

Moore stated that Griffin isn't a superstar. However, acquiring him would match the Knicks’ current approach. They can later trade for a top player in July in preparation for the next season. Some of the other players that the team is rumored to consider trading are Alec Burks, Tyus Jones, Collin Sexton, Daniel Gafford, Malcolm Brogdon, and Jordan Clarkson
