Pre-Draft 2025 Fantasy Football Rookie Guide!

(Underdog ADP)

Think pre-draft ADP doesn't matter? Think again! It's your secret weapon to spot overhyped players and potential steals before everyone else catches on. Sure, landing spots and draft capital will shake things up, but grabbing value now can set you up for glory.

I've dug into the Underdog ADP data, mashed it up with consensus ranks, and analyst takes to spotlight the rookies you NEED to know.

Who's Hot and Who's Not (Yet!) in Early Underdog Drafts?

No surprises at the top: Ashton Jeanty (RB, Boise State) is the undisputed king, often vanishing in the first 12-15 picks. He's got the talent, the hype, the whole package! After Jeanty, things get interesting:

Omarion Hampton (RB, North Carolina) & Tetairoa McMillan (WR, Arizona) are the next off the board (ADP ~40-50). The market sees them as the clear next tier.

The ADP 60-90 zone is packed:

RBs: TreVeyon Henderson (Ohio State), Quinshon Judkins (Ohio State), Kaleb Johnson (Iowa).

WRs: Luther Burden III (Missouri), Emeka Egbuka (Ohio State), Matthew Golden (Texas), Travis Hunter (Colorado).

ADP Movers & Shakers!

This market is ALIVE! Let's check out these recent risers:

Bhayshul Tuten (RB, Virginia Tech): This guy is on FIRE, soaring nearly 90 spots! Buzz + Combine = ADP rocket fuel. Is the hype real?

Omarion Hampton, Matthew Golden, Travis Hunter, Colston Loveland, and Jayden Higgins are also climbing, suggesting drafters are buying in.

On the flip side, Kaleb Johnson and Luther Burden III have cooled off slightly. Opportunity knocking?

Finding the Value: ADP vs. The Experts

This is where we hunt for bargains! Comparing Underdog ADP to consensus expert rankings reveals some juicy discrepancies. Who's getting drafted WAY later than the experts think they should?

Potential Underdog Values (April 2025):

(Table based on data in original article)

Why the gaps? Projected draft capital is king. Day 1-2 guys cost more. Landing spot whispers (Hampton to the Chargers?) move the needle. Travis Hunter's WR/CB role causes confusion. And Combine warriors (Tuten, Golden) get that buzz boost.

Top 2025 Fantasy Football Targets by Position?

Quarterbacks

Not the star power of 2024, but quarterbacks matter!

Top Dogs: Cam Ward (Miami) and Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) lead the ADP charge.

Sleeper Watch: Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) goes later but has fans loving his deep ball. Could he be the value QB1?

Others: Jalen Milroe (Alabama), Quinn Ewers (Texas).

Running Backs

Deeper class than recent years? Looks like it!

The King: Ashton Jeanty (Boise State). Elite. Think Alvin Kamara/ Dalvin Cook upside. Costs a pretty penny (~12.5 ADP).

The Contender: Omarion Hampton (North Carolina). Consensus RB2, physical beast. ADP (~44) still way behind Jeanty. Is he that much worse?

Mid-Round Muscle (ADP 60-80):

TreVeyon Henderson (Ohio State): Explosive, great receiver, but can he handle the hits?

Quinshon Judkins (Ohio State): Power + Combine buzz = future lead back? Needs receiving work.

Kaleb Johnson (Iowa): Big body, productive 2024, but testing wasn't stellar.

All three offer potential ADP value vs. consensus rank! Which Buckeye back do you prefer?

Late-Round Heroes? (ADP > 100): This is where leagues can be won! Half-PPR loves pass-catchers...

Bhayshul Tuten (Virginia Tech): ADP ~136. Analyst darling, "remarkably skilled," soaring ADP but maybe still cheap? Could be a league-winner!

RJ Harvey (UCF): ADP ~171. Elusive, athletic, catches passes. Older, but could produce now. Massive ADP discount vs. rank!

Brashard Smith (SMU): ADP ~204. De'Von Achane vibes? Converted WR, blazing speed (4.39!), HUGE PPR upside. Dirt cheap flyer!

Cam Skattebo (Arizona State): ADP ~115. Elite production profile, Day 2 buzz from some? Value vs. RB6 rank!

Dylan Sampson (Tennessee): ADP ~150+. Chunk plays + Day 2 whispers + speed (4.42). Worth a shot?

Targeting running backs with receiving chops late (Tuten, Harvey, Smith) is a sharp move on Underdog. Draft capital matters most, but at these low ADPs, the risk/reward is tempting!

Wide Receivers

Deep class, maybe missing that alpha WR1 like 2024, but loaded with potential starters.

The Prototype: Tetairoa McMillan (Arizona). Size, catch radius, production. Consensus WR1, ADP (~50) reflects it.

Mid-Round Mayhem (ADP 75-95):

Luther Burden III (Missouri): YAC King! Slot/flanker dynamite.

Emeka Egbuka (Ohio State): Ideal NFL slot? Smooth routes, PPR machine potential.

Matthew Golden (Texas): Deep threat + insane 4.29 speed = stock UP!

Travis Hunter (Colorado): Elite talent, but the CB snaps cap his WR ceiling/ADP (~94). Too risky?

All offer ADP discounts vs. consensus rank! Who's your favorite here?

Sleeper Central (ADP > 100): Serious potential hiding here!

Jayden Higgins (Iowa State): ADP ~141. "League winner" buzz! Nico Collins comp? Route running, speed, separation... MASSIVE value vs. WR7 rank! Are you buying?

Tre Harris (Ole Miss): ADP ~140-150s. Productive, ranked WR6 consensus, available late.

Jaylin Noel (Iowa State): ADP ~150s+. Higgins' teammate! Amon-Ra St. Brown + more speed? Another potential league-winner!

Isaiah Bond (Texas): ADP ~118. Speed demon! Downfield/screen weapon. Production dipped, but athletes get drafted!

Got a strong take on Higgins or Noel? Now might be the time to pounce before their ADP catches up post-draft!

Tight Ends

Usually a rookie wasteland, but two names stand out:

Top Dog: Tyler Warren (Penn State). Consensus TE1. Ideal size, athleticism, blocking, production. ADP (~103) seems fair.

Value Target: Colston Loveland (Michigan). Great route runner, should play early. ADP (~128) offers a HUGE discount vs. TE2 consensus rank! He looks like a prime target.

Late Fliers: Mason Taylor (LSU), Elijah Arroyo (Miami), Harold Fannin Jr. (Bowling Green). Arroyo is intriguing late.

Your Pre-Draft Game Plan

Okay, let's strategize. We need to balance ADP value NOW with potential draft capital LATER.

Top Value Targets (Based on ADP vs. Consensus Rank)

RBs: Hampton, Henderson, Judkins, Johnson, Tuten, Skattebo, Harvey, Smith

WRs: Burden, Egbuka, Golden, Higgins, Noel, Bond

TEs: Loveland

Remember: Draft capital is KING. Round 1-3 picks hit way more often. The sweet spot? Guys like Hampton, Henderson, Judkins, Burden, Egbuka, Golden, Warren, and Loveland who have good ADP and a strong shot at Day 1-2 capital.

Sleepers like Tuten, Sampson, Skattebo, and maybe Harvey become HUGE wins if they sneak into Day 2. Landing spots are fun gossip now, but don't bet the farm on them pre-draft.

The mid-rounds (overall picks ~40-120) feel extra murky this year. Lots of solid running backs, deep wide receivers but maybe no superstars? This is YOUR chance! If you LOVE a guy like Higgins, Tuten, or Skattebo based on film or analytics, don't be afraid to reach slightly ahead of ADP. Fortune favors the bold!

The 2025 NFL Draft clock is ticking! For fantasy fanatics, especially those grinding on Underdog Fantasy, this is PRIME time. Forget waiting for draft night, the early bird gets the worm (or the league-winning rookie!). Pre-draft Average Draft Position (ADP) is our crystal ball, showing us who the market loves... and who might be flying under the radar.
