Best Fantasy Football Landing Spots for the Top Three Free Agents

The offseason fun has started with the NFL draft approaching. Young prospects are ready to prove they belong at the next level. Meanwhile, NFL free agency is set to begin in a couple of weeks. Many players' careers are about to shift, for better or worse, so let’s see where some ideal (fantasy) fits would be.

 

Derrick Henry

Baltimore Ravens

Career Stats: 9,502 rushing yards, 90 Touchdowns, 15.8 FPts/G, 1812 total FPTs

 

The 30-year-old bulldozer running back is coming off an “underwhelming” year where he still managed to rush for 1,000 yards and added his usual 10 plus touchdowns. The rebuild has begun in Tennessee, and Derrick Henry is looking for a new home to show he still has some juice. Henry is renowned for his imposing size, incredible strength, and remarkable speed, making him one of the most dominant running backs in the league.

 

This off-season, the Baltimore Ravens should be giving Henry a phone call immediately. The read option with Lamar Jackson and Henry would be unfair. JK Dobbins unfortunately suffered a second season-ending injury, and the Ravens might be able to replace him with Keaton Mitchell. Now imagine if, instead of Gus Edwards, the Ravens RB1 was King Henry. That would be a match made in heaven.

 

Josh Jacobs

Los Angeles Chargers

 

Stats 2019-20235,545 rushing yards, 46 Touchdowns, 15.7 FPTs/G,1,158 total FPTs

 

The Alabama Alum was drafted by the Raiders in 2019 and has remained with the team up to this point in his career. Josh Jacobs quickly made a name for himself in the NFL, showcasing a combination of power, agility, and vision as a running back. In Jacobs's rookie season, he exceeded expectations and earned a spot on the Pro Bowl roster.

Jacobs has continued putting up solid numbers in his career and is set to play elsewhere assuming contract negotiations with the Raiders never come to fruition. Right now, the Raiders are still -200 to land Jacobs, but things are looking grim. The Chargers (+700), Texans (+850), and Ravens (+950) are the three favorites to land Jacobs. If Jacobs went to the Chargers, his value would skyrocket due to all the hype surrounding Justin Herbert and Jim Harbaugh. Either way, I expect Jacobs to have a much better 2024 season because as long as he doesn't go to the Raiders, he'll be in a great situation.

 

Calvin Ridley

Kansas City Chiefs

2019-2021 Stats: 3,342 receiving yards, 28 TDs, 15.2 FPTS/G, 755 Fpts.

 

Calvin Ridley quickly established himself as a reliable and dynamic wide receiver in the NFL. Known for his precise route-running, speed, and ability to create separation from defenders, Ridley became a key target in the Falcons passing game. Ridley displayed a knack for making big plays and contributed significantly to the team's offense. Ridley's breakout season occurred in 2020 when he emerged as the Falcons' primary receiving threat following the departure of Julio Jones

 

In that season, Ridley surpassed 1,300 receiving yards and was among the top receivers in the league. Ridley's performance earned him praise and recognition as one of the rising stars at the wide receiver position. Off-the-field issues derailed his career in 2021, but in 2023, Ridley was back in the league with the Jacksonville Jaguars via trade. It was a rollercoaster ride of a season for fantasy managers with Ridley.

 

Now that Ridley has a full season back under his belt, the rust will hopefully be all gone. Despite winning the Super Bowl, the Chiefs need some help at wide receiver. Ridley still managed to put up 1,016 yards with 8 TDs in his first year back after not playing football for two years. Adding Ridley could be yet another weapon for Patrick Mahomes to utilize.
